When you purchase a new home from Shellstar Homes*, your home is enrolled in the Tarion New Home Warranty Program (formally the Ontario New Home Warranty Program). As a new homeowner, you will be provided with a Tarion New Home Warranty information package. We encourage you to read through this material, as it details your rights and responsibilities under the program. Tarion also has an excellent website with additional information regarding the warranty plan.

Tarion Warranty after-sales service process

Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI): This inspection is usually completed several before the closing date. The inspector will identify any outstanding work or any obvious deficiencies. We will provide you with a list of products and equipment in your new home, so this is also an excellent opportunity for you to address any questions or concerns that you may have. During this inspection, you will also be provided with the Tarion New Home Warranty information package.

30 Day report: At the end of your first month in your home, you have another opportunity to report issues to Shellstar on your 30-day Tarion service report. Where possible, please provide this as ONE written service request form, no more than 30 days from closing.

1 year report: Any issues or deficiencies discovered after the submission of the 30 day report should be provided to Shellstar in ONE written service request on the 1-year Tarion service report, excepting emergency situations*. This should be provided to Shellstar Homes between the 11^th and 12^th month of occupancy. If you are unsure of the date that your warranty expires, please contact Shellstar Homes or Tarion for confirmation.

All requests for service and warranty work must be submitted in writing, by email at service@shellstarhomes.com, facsimile or post.
